| 70mph speed sign's deemed 'out of date'. |
The speed limit on Britain’s motorway will rise to 80mph after the current limit was described as ‘out of date’.
This was the opinion of Transport Secretary Phillip Hammond, and he explained how a higher speed limit would bring economic benefits when introduced in 2013.
The rise to 80mph will be the first change to Britain’s speed limit since 1965, the decision has been greeted by many contrasting opinions throughout the nation, however we wanted to find out what the City of Canterbury thought on the matter.
Unfortunately, when we spoke to the Canterbury City Council press office, they were unable to comment on the situation as it falls out of their remit and is a matter down to Kent County Council. However, we did speak to the people of Canterbury and William Hahlani, a crash victim, had his say on the matter.
Here is his interview.
