Trigger

People may feel prompted to start businesses as a result of the economic climate, according to a leading business expert.

Dr Wim Van Vuuren, a senior lecturer and director of business consultancy at Canterbury Christ Church University, said: “This economic climate may serve as a trigger for certain people to start businesses out of necessity. It may push people out of their comfort zone and they may see this an opportunity to do something they’ve always wanted to do.”

Dr Vuuren encourages potential entrepreneurs to pursue their ideas, irrelevant of the economic climate. He said: “If you have a good idea and you have the drive, energy and motivation then by all means give it a try. However, get advice.”
